Dummons is associate professor of art and design at Middle Tennesse State University in Murfreesboro, Tennesse. She has exhibited widely and her work has been represented in various shows through Stella Jones Gallery and other Louisiana venues. The artist’s affinity for female forms and a propensity for geometric patternization, strong command of figurative forms, and use of color as evidenced by her prints, shows the influence of her mentor and teacher John T. Scott. Dummons’ work is included in several collections, including the Blanche and Norman Francis Collection at Xavier University of LA.Dummons work can also feature a major public sculpture of Buddy Bolden. The image located in Armstrong Park in New Orleans, Louisiana was commissioned by the City of New Orleans. Dummons’s work has been reviewed both regionally and nationally, in various publications, such as Sculpture magazine and Art Papers. Early in her professional career, the artist expressed that “use the female form , in a variety of ways and scales, to express visually my personal journey in search of a ‘Spiritual home.” My imagery references my African ancestry as well as women’s experiences.”
