About the Artist

Ayo Scott

A lifelong New Orleanian and second-generation visual artist, Ayo Scott graduated from Xavier University before pursuing graduate studies at The Institute of Design in Chicago. The son of celebrated MacArthur Fellow John T. Scott, his practice continues a family legacy of art rooted in heritage, social justice, and the living traditions of New Orleans.

Scott's work has been exhibited at the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, and the McKenna Museum of African American Art, and is held in private collections including those of Serena Williams and CCH Pounder. He is a Joan Mitchell Foundation resident.
