Hamilton, also taught sculpture at Jefferson Community College in Kentucky. Hamilton’s many public commissions include, "Make us Free," a memorial to the 1839 Amistad Revolt and it’s leader Singbe Pieh (also known as Joseph Cinque) and the “Spirit of Freedom” at the National Memorial in the District of Columbia, a statue commemorating Colored Soldiers and Sailors of the Civil War in Washington D.C. Hamilton’s visual acumen and technical expertise is in demand. He has served on various advisory panels and boards including the (Kentucky) Mayor’s Advisory Panel on Public Art and the Thomas Clark Historical Center in Frankfort, Kentucky. The artist has a unique ability to capture the likeness, countenance, and character of his subjects.
Hamilton, “one of the most gifted visual artists of our time,” is also an author. In 2006, he published “The Birth of an Artist, a Journey of Discovery,” a biographical work that outlines his journey to becoming one the country's most successful artist.
