The Amistad Research Center announced its second annual vinyl listening party fundraiser, taking place on March 26, 2026, at Rosy’s Jazz Hall in New Orleans.

The event was created to support the center’s ongoing mission of preserving African American history and cultural archives. Executive Director Kathe Hambrick explained that the fundraiser is part of the organization’s broader 60th anniversary initiatives focused on long-term sustainability after the center lost approximately 40% of its funding due to federal cuts in 2025.

The evening featured small bites, music curated from percussionist Cleveland Green’s personal vinyl collection of approximately 1,500 records, and an atmosphere inspired by historic listening parties of past decades.

Rosy’s Jazz Hall, known for its deep roots in New Orleans music history, served as the venue for the event. Legendary artists including Dizzy Gillespie, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, and Sarah Vaughan previously performed there.

The fundraiser also included an online auction featuring rare memorabilia and collectibles from private collectors, including a signed Muhammad Ali boxing glove and historic jazz-era photographs.

Funds raised from the event support the Amistad Research Center’s continued efforts to preserve and protect Black history, archives, and cultural memory for future generations.
